Street Children

Problems and stress…I worry too much about a lot of things but every time I see kids covered in dirt sleeping just by the side walk oblivious to the scurrying crowd, I feel compassion and guilt. I ask myself why I worry too much when these kids have deeper and even worse problems than us. Compared to the life that awaits these kids, my worries are minuscule.

Don’t these street kids deserve a wonderful home and loving parents ? Of course they do, but what can we really do to help them? I asked myself what I can do? All I did was to give a child 20 pesos but of course this isn’t enough to alleviate them from their sad predicament. The boy looked stunned when I reached out to give him the money. I guess he wasn’t expecting this act of kindness from a stranger. He smiled and I felt even more sorry for this child. As I continued to walk towards home, I silently prayed for the boy. I hope that someday he would find people who would care and nurture him. It’s times like this I wish I had money too share to the needy, but this is just me being naive. I know for a fact this isn’t enough to give street kids what they really need, however, it will help.
