Cebu Blog Camp 2010 – A Huge Success!

The Cebu Blog Camp 2010 held last Saturday, May 22; at the CAP building near Jones Cebu was quite a success! For a start, if you consider yourself a novice in the blogging world, you’ll find yourself feeling countless moments of hesitation. In my case, I’m usually impervious when it comes to attending events such as this. Luckily this time, a really good friend of mine, by the name of Xerxes Bernadez of ObnoxiousQueer, persuade me to join the Cebu Blog Camp. Nothing personal really, let’s just say I can be unusually anti-social but in the end, I’m just another blogger who enjoys meeting new people and building friendly relationships, learning new ideas from the best particularly one that can help improve your skills, and of course, accepting freebies!!!

The Cebu Blog Camp was the first ever blogging event organized by the CBC group, piloted by Winston Almendras of BatangYagit, a highly reputable blogger who made a name for himself in the Philippine blogosphere. Winston is one of those rather exceptional Filipino bloggers who established their authority in the blogging community.

What I liked about the Cebu Blog Camp 2010 was essentially the topics that were talked about by prominent bloggers. From blogging basics like setting up your blog using the blogger platform and blogging with Adsense, tips on becoming an influential blogger, and to more advanced topics such as SEO or Search Engine Optimization, everyone was obviously pleased with the wisdom they were learning firsthand. Among my personal favorites were Janette Toral of DigitalFilipino, Mica of MicaMyx, Tonyo Cruz of TonyoCruz and Hans Koch of ClickEleven. When you start listening to these bloggers talking and imparting their knowledge about blogging to a newbie who’s still working on the kinks, like me, well it makes the whole event worthwhile.

I considered the Cebu Blog Camp as my springboard towards a lengthy complex journey towards success in the Philippine blogosphere. As I learn the basics from the Cebu Blog Camp event, I’m now geared up for a more in-depth knowledge and ideas about blogging and Search Engine Optimization. Like so many others, I blog because writing is my passion. However, I must admit that I wasn’t born an exceptional writer. I’ve learned that to get your message across and to influence people with your wisdom, you need to write from the heart because this transcends in your writing, thus, allowing people to appreciate your knowledge and ideas.

I’m really grateful that through this event, I learned a lot and gained new friends in the process, who share the same passion as I do. It’s soothing to know that a lot of bloggers have found their success through blogging. A profound maxim that I learned from the Cebu Blog Camp that will surely reverberate in every corner of my psyche is “Don’t get a job. Get a gig!” I think it’s about time to leave the corporate rat race and find my success through blogging don’t you think?

Before I end this post, I’d like to thank the rest of the team who organized the Cebu Blog Camp namely Johnn Mendoza, Ethelbert Ouano, Bryan Karl Yuson, Andrew Buenaviaje, Michael Sinjn Pineda, Xerxes Bernadez, Prince Ryan Gilig and Kristine Roa. Also thanks to Edcel of Soloflighted and Doris of DoiSpeaks for being my buddies during the event. Now let me leave you with this cool video about Social Media Revolution that was also featured by Janette Toral in her talk during the said event. Cheers bloggers!
