Back in May 1, 2010, our old Quality team traveled towards the southwestern corners of Cebu en route Moalboal beach or Moalboal resort. Moalboal is a third class municipality in the province of Cebu, located 89 kilometers from Cebu City. It is sited between the towns of Alcantara and Badian.

Tourism in Moalboal was developed since the 1970s. Recently, its White Beach now hosts several resorts ideal to locals and tourists. The place is also known for its amazing diving spots namely Pescador Island and prosperous underwater existence.

Pescador Island is an island situated in Tanon Strait just a few kilometers west of Cebu, Philippines. This island is administered by the municipality of Moalboal. Surrounding waters of the island are believed to be severely deep. It is celebrated for its humid temperatures and prosperous underwater biodiversity. The waters is said to contain just about 70% of the country’s known species of fish. Divers are expected to observe around 2,500 fish species in its waters while there are still a significant number of fishes unknown.

Some travel tips on how to get from Cebu City to Moalboal:

1. If budget is not a concern to you, you can take taxi from the Cebu International airport to the town of Moalboal for as much as 2000 PHP to 3000 PHP. There is really no definite fare so this is something that can be negotiated between you and the taxi driver.
2. You can take a taxi from the airport to the South Bus Terminal or Librando station which may cost around 90 PHP. From there you can take a Ceres or Librando bus to Moalboal. Just make sure you take buses that travel via Barili to get to the town. This costs only around 89 PHP to 150 PHP by bus. Once you reach the town proper, you can ride a tricycle towards the Moalboal resorts and beaches. A tricycle is a well-known Philippine vehicle with 3 wheels. The tricycle fare would typically cost roughly 20 PHP to 30 PHP per person.
3. You may also take a taxi from the airport to CitiLink Transit Station located in N. Bacalso Ave. From there, you can ride a van or V-hire which would only cost around 80 PHP to 100 PHP then take a tricycle to various Moalboal resorts.

Foreigners must keep in mind though there is no Automated Teller Machine available anywhere in Moalboal so you should either settle your transactions online or have your currency converted to Philippine peso.
