I wanted to write about the Quirino Grandstand Hostage Drama sooner but decided to hold it off since I knew I was still raving with anger about the whole incident. Now, here’s my take on the most “talked-about” story not only in the Philippines but I dare say – the whole world.
The first time I heard about the hostage crisis which took place at Quirino Granstand last August 23, 2010, my initial reaction was perhaps the same as everyone else’s. I was angry by what the hostage taker did, not only to demoralize and disgrace his name, but also his family, his friends, the Filipino people, and the country in general.
Back in the year 1988, when I was once a spirited and timid youthful girl of five, my father who was then a reputable Marine Engineer took me to my foremost beach jaunt along with my other siblings. Boy, did I have such a blast! Despite my obvious lack of skill in swimming, I embraced the cold salty waters of the beach while forcefully flexing my arms and legs trying my best to swim as far away as I could from the safety of the shores.
Back in May 1, 2010, our old Quality team traveled towards the southwestern corners of Cebu en route Moalboal beach or Moalboal resort. Moalboal is a third class municipality in the province of Cebu, located 89 kilometers from Cebu City. It is sited between the towns of Alcantara and Badian.
Tourism in Moalboal was developed since the 1970s. Recently, its White Beach now hosts several resorts ideal to locals and tourists. The place is also known for its amazing diving spots namely Pescador Island and prosperous underwater existence.
Last Saturday, we dropped by one of our favorite shopping malls, the SM City Cebu, and we came across the Make Your Own Havaianas 2010 and was instantly considering buying our personalized wholesale Havaianas or in bulk. However, as quickly as the idea came, I was quick to change my mind, as well, knowing that I have more than enough flip flops at home. You don’t leave the city without trying out the food in Chika-an. Compared with other counterparts like Golden Cowrie, the food almost tastes the same but still worth every penny. The menu is quite good especially when you are looking for famous authentic Filipino cuisines.
I’ve been to this restaurant several times but never got a chance to blog about it. The interior is beautiful and comfortable yet classy. It’s definitely ideal for group food moments and other special occasions. Last year, my team held our Christmas dinner at Chika-an so we enjoyed both great food and pleasant conversation.
August 30th, 2010 Praline One trait of Filipinos is our fondness for Chinese cuisines that’s why I would recommend Harbour City Dimsum located at Ayala Center Cebu. One thing I’ve noticed here in Cebu is that there are so many dimsum restaurants and stalls but not all offer delicious and affordable meals. I don’t know about you but I love Chinese food.
Back in my home town Dumaguete City, situated in Oriental Negros, I remember the famous steamed rice of one of the department stores in the city, Lee Super Plaza. It used to cost P25 PHP five years ago, so I’m not really sure how much it costs now.
August 30th, 2010 Praline Last Sunday, my family and I went out to taste the delicious desserts available only at Dessert Factory Cebu. I’m not really big on cakes and pastries but I absolutely adore ice cream filled desserts. As far as I know, this is one great place that offers mouthwatering desserts and cakes.
